WHAT DO OUR VOLUNTEERS DO?

Volunteers help this organisation to extend care into the community and enable us to provide better services. Because of their efforts Volis are sincerely appreciated by consumers, carers and staff.

More specifically....

In Home Respite means visiting with a person whilst their usual carer has a break. You might go for a drive, have coffee and a chat, watch TV or even play pool.
Social Support (In Home) means visiting with a person and perhaps having tea or coffee, writing letters, potting plants, walking a dog or just have a good old chin wag or debate on current affairs. You might go for a drive, have coffee and a chat, watch TV or even play pool.
Social Support (Out of Home) means escorting people shopping, to the library, swimming pool, fishing (on good days), to the movies and other outings.
Centre Based Day Care at Our House involves assisting older people to enjoy their stay. You may be asked to play games, listen to music, play chess, watch TV or help prepare morning tea, all in a warm and inviting home environment.
Gardening & Home Maintenance. If you like the outdoors and practical activities then this is the one for you. The sorts of things you will be asked to do are weeding, pruning, general tidying up of gardens and perhaps changing a light bulb or fixing a flyscreen.
Community Transport. In this area you will relieve our usual drivers during their annual holidays or when they are sick.
One on One Transport. This means that you take people to doctor's, physio or other therapist's appointments, to Peel Health Campus, the Post Office, the library, chemist or wherever - the list is endless. Because Voli's are using their own vehicles for this they recoup $0.55c per kilometre travelled on a monthly basis.
